Visit Franklin Land Trust's Guyette Farm in Plainfield to learn about the Dynamic Forests Initiative, as well as land stewardship programs and grants available to landowners. Franklin Land Trust is working with the Dynamic Forest Restoration Initiative to showcase this property as a mini-dynamic forest, one stop to see many types of ecosystems at work. Take a walk with Initiative partners, and technical assistance program staff to learn about how this conserved, former dairy farm now supports a broad variety of natural landscapes and habitats, and the many grants and funds available to support land managers.

Gifted to Franklin Land Trust by a local farming family to protect the 107 acres of land from future development, Guyette Farm is managed by FLT with active agriculture, wildlife habitat, and community enjoyment as its primary goals for the property. On this land you find trails open to the public and Raspberry Hill Community Garden operated by local community members.
Guyette Farm has a diverse set of plant communities and landscape types which benefit from thoughtful active management by Franklin Land Trust stewardship staff. From large old hemlock and pine, to mature oaks and maples, to young forest on historic field sites that provide berries and browse for people and wildlife alike. Learn how rare poplar stands are in this region, and how important they are to song birds and many types of wildlife.
Franklin Land Trust staff will be joined by personnel from MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, Ruffed Grouse Society, MassWildlife and USDA Natural Resource Conservation Services to provide information about land stewardship technical support and cost share programs available in our region.

About the Dynamic Forest Restoration Initiative:
The Massachusetts Dynamic Forest Restoration Initiative (MADFRI) is a collaboration on public and private lands in north central Massachusetts and the Berkshire Highlands region that enhances forest resiliency, restores fish and wildlife habitat diversity, mitigates invasive species, and creates a baseline model for long-term transboundary landscape-level planning throughout the region by through forest habitat restoration, forest habitat resilience, public engagement & outreach, and long-term landscape planning. USFS Landscape Scale Restoration Grant which addresses forest resiliency and habitat diversity restoration across public and private lands in western Mass and is clustered around focal area forest blocks. Partner organizations include Franklin Land Trust, Ruffed Grouse Society, Wild Turkey Federation, Mount Grace Land Conservation Trust, MA Department of Fish and Game, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation.
